Among the many famous people who will start the next Franco Mazzotti Cup,
There will also be the famous champion ARTURO MERZARIO with his inexhaustible verve.
VIII Franco Mazzotti’s Cup
The race, organized by Club Mille Miglia “Franco Mazzotti”, in memory of the undiscussed leader of Mille Miglia’s founders, Franco Mazzotti, changes its program, extending it by one day: the eighth edition will be held through Brescia, Garda Lake (with overnight staying in Sirmione) and Franciacorta, with arrival at Franco Mazzotti’s native house.
The Franco Mazzotti Cup this year will be held on a completely new route and, at the request of many foreign participants, the race will for the first time last two days, Saturday and Sunday.
The technical and administrative checks will take place on Friday evening and Saturday morning in Brescia, at Mille Miglia’s Museum.
The race as well will start from the Museum dedicated to the Red Arrow, on Saturday, October 8.
Franco Mazzotti died during the war piloting his plane and in memory of his aeronautical feats, some tests will be competed on the runways of Ghedi’s Military Airport. Lunch that day will be served in the hangar of a Tornado of the 6th Wing, the “Red Devils”.
At the end of the first stage, the competitors will have the privilege of having an “aperitivo” at Sirmione's Castle, which is open only on special occasions. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Sirmione, a fabulous location called “Garda’s Gem”.
Sunday, October 9, after driving through some of the most characteristic places of Franciacorta, the arrival, the closing lunch and the awards ceremony will be in Chiari at Villa Mazzotti, residence of the inventor and founder of the Mille Miglia.
At its eighth edition, the race dedicated to the creator of the name “Mille Miglia” it’s well known for the sophisticated hospitality, the quality of gifts for the crews, the technicality of the timed tests, alternated with exquisitely tourist stretches through beautiful locations, and the quantity of the awards.
The Franco Mazzotti Cup present itself as a regularity race, technically challenging for the competitors because of 89 timed tests and 3 navigation tests, distributed along the 154Km of the first stage, from Brescia to Garda Lake, and the 124km of the second stage, from Sirmione to Chiari, driving through Franciacorta.
The challenge to win the Cup and the various Trophies (all made of silver) will be, as usual, between some of the best Italian Top-Drivers, with Giovanni Moceri and Daniele Bonetti ahead: the Sicilian pediatrician and the journalist from Brescia aim at the poker, since they won the last three editions.
This year, as well as the previous ones, Franco Mazzotti Cup will be one of the races valid for the Challenge AIDO Autostoriche. This challenge is made of a mini-league on the Brescia-Cremona-Pavia axis. There will be six races, that will be disputed in this order: Trofeo AIDO, (Gardone VT, 24-25 Settembre 2016) Campagne e Cascine (Cremona, 1-2 Ottobre 2016), Coppa Franco Mazzotti (Brescia, 8-9 Ottobre 2016), Mitteleuropean Race (Trieste, 14-16 Ottobre 2016), Trofeo Foresti (Pralboino, Marzo 2017) e Coppa dei Castelli Pavesi (Aprile, Marzo 2017).
For the notoriety of its name and the quality of participants and their extraordinary cars, since the first edition, Franco Mazzotti Cup has had by its side top lines enterprises, to which goes our gratitude for their contribution, that was not only financial but also of passion and friendship.
